It is an art project that is going on now in London and New York, and the artist has done a brilliant job of creating a backstory to the project that really draws on your imagination and makes the actual device all the more mysterious.

Basically it is a fiber-optic video connection between New York and London, but it makes it look as though you are looking through a huge tunnel to the people on the other side.
